At Lake Run Fly and Guide we’ve been dedicated to chasing Great Lakes salmonids for over a decade. We believe in giving our clients the best chance at catching true trophies and creating life long memories. Specializing in light tackle and fly rods, either single or double handed. We love fishing, and getting people into big fish is our passion. Join us aboard our 18’ stealthcraft power drifter from September through May and find out why we believe fishing Great Lakes tributaries is hard to beat.
Beginning in September large chinook salmon begin staging in front of many of the tributaries that flow into Lake Ontario. These fish are hard fighting, and aggressive. Once in the rivers they will actively eat skein, lures and swung flies. We offer AM and PM trips through salmon season.
As September roles into October the salmon season is well underway. Large rainbow and brown trout will follow the kings looking to gorge themselves on eggs. In late October and into November the brown trout will begin to spawn, and a large percentage of those fish will winter over in the rivers in which they spawn.
Late October and November, is the when we begin to focus mainly on steelhead. These fish are acrobatic, dime bright, hard fighting fish. They are sure to get your adrenaline flowing and your heart pumping. They will winter over in the rivers and begin to spawn in late March, April and sometimes into May depending on water temperatures.
April and May are also prime months for getting large brown trout near shore on Lake Ontario. Trolling stick baits and spoons in shallow water is great sport and can be fast and furious action.
