We started our trip on this cloudy morning knowing that the marlins were not around in big numbers yet due to the lower than normal water temperature for the season.So the plan was to look for the other fishes that could be found.Just minutes after setting up the lure spread we had a strike on the centre rigger and Mr Aaron got his first of the day,a 15lbs dogtooth tuna.With the windy conditions we thought it would be a good idea to look for the dorados and we found a school that was not interested in our lures.We changed tactics and hooked 4 but lost 2 of them close to the boat.Lucky fishes.Found some other schools later on but they looked like their stomachs were full of baitfish.We caught another one on lure though.We spotted a school of big skipjack tuna and our customer had a good workout reeling them in.I can guarantee you that a big skipjack tuna caught on a 30lbs reel is a good challenge.We caught 6 of them and lost 4 others.In the end we found a very big school of smaller skipjacks(5lbs) and caught 2.There were hundreds of birds following that school,it was spectacular.We ended the trip with 3 dorados of 19,20 and 22 lbs , 6 big skipjacks with the biggest weighing 24 lbs,2 smaller ones 5 lbs each and a 15 lbs dogtooth tuna.
