Left Calheta at 0900 hrs and set the first lure at 0905 hrs. Fishes towards Funchal and ha a triple hit off Camera de Lobos. We let 2 fish run long and landed the first fish of 65 kgs. The second fish took 15 minutes to bring alongside and was a little smaller at 55 kgs. The third fish was, by now, about 700 mtrs from the boat and therefore took 35 minutes to bring into view, This was estimated at around 100 kgs but was only lip hooked and just as we got him alongside the hook came out of the lip and so this was lost. Still 2 out of 3 isn't bad as we had only novices on board. These fish were caught trolling with a mix of lures 1 was caught on Mouldcraft Wide Standard Black and Purple and the other was caught on a Black Bart Sans Can Candy Rainbow lure. both were rigged with 10 O Mustad Stainless steel hooks and were on 200 lbs leaders with 80 lbs Momoi Line and braid backing.
