I been wanting to charter a trip for Snook for some time and found Captain John on a Florida fishing website. Being an avid fisherman in Northeast I did not just want to find a captain to take me on a boat ride but a guide that teaches and truly loves what he does. I spoke with captain John via phone and text he always returned my calls and ansered all questions and made recommendations on tides, weather etc. I was very comfortable booking with him. The day of the trip we met at the ramp and the day was on. We ran to first spot and caught 10 fish it would have been more but I was not used to fishing around Mangroves. Captain took his time showed me how to hookup and handle these fish. They are strong fish. All in all we moved to several spots and caught fish on each stop till tide went slack. By that time trip was over anyway. All in all we boated 17 snook largest 25” and lost 5 or 6.  Fish through hook or I set hook to soon. I plan on coming back in May and fishing with Captain John again. Not only did I have a fantastic day on the water I have a new friend.. his equipment and boat are top of the line.  Thank you captain again for a great experience

We had a terrific day with Captain John. We caught around 30 snook and probably 10 of them were in the 20 to 30 inch category. John is very efficient, very knowledgeable of the Tampa area and an excellent angler. His equipment is top notch and very well maintained. We lost no fish due to lines or pole rigging not being kept fresh. His Triton Bay boat is excellent and can get just about anywhere. I highly recommend John Rivers.

Captain John is exceptionally knowledgeable and experienced fishing Tampa Bay!  He is personable and hard working and he put me on the fish. We had a day with difficult conditions but Capt John was very persistent and knew how to find productive water.  By the end of the day we boated approximately 20 snook, and had shots at redfish that had lock jaw. He went above and beyond to ensure that I had a great day

We have been out with Captain John a few times and have had a great experience every time.  Whether it is taking clients out or taking my family out, John never disappoints.  He’s got some great spots.  He’s great with all levels of experience.  Loves to teach and help but will also let you do it on your own if you like the challenge. Would highly recommend Captain John to anyone.

I’ve lived in St. Pete/Tampa for almost 2 years and I finally found a Captain that I will go back and charter a fishing trip with again. Captain John got us to the fish despite the conditions being less than favorable (imagine the even greater success if all factors were on our side) and I landed my personal best Snook! He made for a memorable trip for my dad and I.
