Inshore Excursions takes you out on inshore fishing trips around Sanibel, FL. Known for its sand beaches that hoard sea shells from the Gulf of Mexico, Sanibel has a lot to offer to people going around its inshore and nearshore waters as well.
Fishing here is great year round, especially if you’re fishing for Redfish, Snook or Spotted Seatrout. Tarpon are more prominent in springtime and summer, but you won’t miss a lot whichever day you choose to come. There are several hotspots to explore, including Tarpon bay, as well as various flats that lie towards the Matlacha Pass.
Captain Mike is a local angler who has grown up in the area. He has fished these waterways countless times, and knows how to navigate around them. On his 19’ Mako flats boat, Mike can access some of the spots that might not be that accessible to big boats, which means you will have a lot to explore. The boat is powered by a 90 HP Mercury engine, has a trolling motor and a live bait well, stores life jackets, and is rigged with the navigational electronics. Up to two anglers can come onboard. The boat is stable and can move well around these waterways.
Once you hop onboard, Capt. Mike will take you around for some fine inshore fishing. You will mostly be using live bait, but at request, artificial lures can be used. Both will be provided onboard, along with the gear. Fly fishermen are welcome to join the chase and try to get the fish to go after the fly.
As for the things you need, pack some food and refreshments, bring a hat, sunblock, and sunglasses. Put on comfortable clothes and footwear, pack your camera, and you’re good to go. Captain Mike will be more than glad to welcome you onboard, regardless of your skillset. He will supply the fishing gear, and will also take care of the fishing license.
