Рыбалка – Форт Морган

When it comes to Alabama’s angling opportunities, Fort Morgan fishing charters offer the best of both worlds! This barrier island is located at the mouth of Mobile Bay, where you’ll find some incredible inshore and reef fishing. More of a big game fishing fanatic? The southern side of the island provides direct access to the plentiful waters of the Gulf of Mexico. All you need to do is choose your target species and preferred fishing grounds, and set off on the adventure of a lifetime!

Which trip is best for me?

Inshore fishing

If you’re a newer angler, or want to hook a variety of tasty table fare, Mobile Bay is the place to be. Charters departing from the north of Fort Morgan usually offer half day, ¾ day, and full day trips that’ll see you exploring the flats, shallows, and reefs here.

One of the bay’s biggest draws is the seriously short travel time it takes to get to the hotspots. You’ll be able to cast off for inshore species such as Speckled Trout, Redfish, Flounder, and Tripletail within minutes, while Snapper and Grouper varieties can be found lurking around reefs located only a couple of miles from shore.

Head to the south of Fort Morgan, and you’ll be able to explore the shoreline waters of the Gulf. The species differ slightly here, with Red Drum, Jack Crevalle, and Spanish Mackerel on offer, as well as Speckled Trout, Redfish, and the “Silver King,” Tarpon.

Offshore fishing

Although Fort Morgan’s inshore angling opportunities are becoming more and more popular, if you’re an experienced angler, fishing in Alabama probably means one thing to you: deep sea fishing the plentiful waters of the Gulf!

Depending on where you’re from, deep sea fishing can mean different things. In Fort Morgan, it generally refers to bottom fishing, and you’ll find charters manned by local captains who specialize in these trips. They’ll take you to the productive reefs and wrecks, located only a few miles from shore, to hook huge Grouper, Snapper, Triggerfish, Cobia, Amberjack, and others.

If deep sea fishing means seriously big game fish to you, you won’t be disappointed: there are many charters ready to take you out to where the ocean floor drops. Here, you’ll find world-famous fish such as Mahi Mahi, Blue and White Marlin, Sailfish, Tuna varieties, Wahoo, and more. You’ll generally have to travel up to 50 miles out, so make sure you opt for at least a 10-hour trip!

Need to know

As well as plenty of that good ol’ southern charm, charter captains in Fort Morgan will also provide you with top-quality rods and reels, as well as a fishing license. All you need to bring is weather-appropriate clothing, snacks and drinks, and sea sickness medication for those longer trips.

If you want to catch that Alabaman favorite, Red Snapper, check when the open season is with your captain in order to avoid disappointment. Come discover Fort Morgan’s incredible and endless angling opportunities for yourself!

Форт Морган – сезоны

January

Inshore fishing is seriously productive in January, so start your year off in the best way – you’ll find Speckled Trout and Redfish in abundance. Around the reefs and wrecks, Grouper species can be found lurking.

February

In the flats and shallows, Bull Redfish and Sheepshead are biting hard. Speckled Trout fishing stays strong. If you’re willing to travel seriously far offshore, you’ll come face-to-gills with hard-fighting yellowfin Tuna.

March
Cobia fishing around the reefs is seriously plentiful, with King and Spanish Mackerel also making an appearance closer to shore. In the bays, Flounder start to turn up, and Redfish fishing remains strong.

April

Cobia and Amberjack can be found by the reefs. Further offshore, Mahi Mahi begin to show up. As well as Flounder and “Specks,” huge Redfish make an appearance inshore, so head to Mobile Bay to catch trophy Bull!

May

As the weather heats up, so does the fishing! Head offshore to troll for Wahoo and Mahi Mahi, hit the reefs for Grouper and Snapper, or stay inshore to hook huge Redfish, Speckled Trout, Tripletail, and plenty more.

June

Heads up, Red Snapper fans! June usually heralds the open season for this species, so make sure you book in advance. Big game enthusiasts can head offshore to target Mahi Mahi, Tuna, and Marlin species.

July

It would be easier to list what isn’t biting in July – this month sees pretty much every species on offer! Inshore and offshore waters are abundant. Charters can get pretty full, so make sure you book well in advance.

August

If you want to bow to the Silver King, this is the month to visit, with Tarpon showing up along the shores of the Gulf in abundance. Offshore, Marlin, Mahi Mahi, Tuna, and Sailfish are all biting.

September

As the waters cool down slightly, the bite only heats up! Inshore, Speckled Trout and Redfish are biting hard, with huge trophy species regularly being caught. Head offshore to hook Tuna species.

October
Inshore, Flounder and Redfish can be found swarming the shallows, and Speckled Trout start to make a reappearance. Bottom-dwellers are biting hard around the reefs, and Kingfish can be hooked in the Gulf.

November

Bull Redfish are on offer inshore, and they’re joined by tasty Flounder and Speckled Trout, making this the perfect time for a Mobile Bay trip! The reefs are swarming with Grouper and Snapper species.

December
It may be the end of the year, but the fishing season is far from over! Head to the bays and flats to hook Specks, Redfish, and Flounder, or head seriously far offshore to battle some huge Tuna species.
