The Crescent City fishing scene is a god-send for anglers looking for a combo of fantastic freshwater and ocean opportunities in one place. You can prowl the Pacific Ocean for your next saltwater record or hit the Klamath and Smith Rivers to target Salmon and Trout. It’s absolutely up to you.

Northern California is known for its prolific Chinook (King) Salmon fishing, and in Crescent City, you can test just how good the action is. You can target Kings while they’re still in the ocean from April to November, or catch them on their upstream swim in the nearby rivers in the summer.

But Salmon is just the cherry on top of the proverbial cake that is Crescent City’s fishery. Productive bottom fishing for Rockfish, Lingcod, and California Halibut is popular year-round, as well as exciting Tuna fishing. Another popular pastime here is crabbing, and Dungeness Crab are all the rave from November through July.

A lot of locals are passionate anglers and you can find a good number of Crescent City fishing charters to take you to all the best secret spots. You can take your pick between private and shared trips, depending on how big your group is and how much time you’d like to spend on the water.

Many charters start their trips from the Citizens Dock, so this is probably where you’ll meet your guide. Whatever charter you choose, chances are, you’re going to have an amazing time – Crescent City fishing action is just that good!

There’s a lot of different species that you can target in Crescent City, and keeping up with all the regulations can be difficult. If you’re fishing with a guide, you’ll need to buy a fishing license before the trip, and if you’re going after Chinook Salmon, you’re also going to need a Salmon Report Card. Your captain will make sure you follow all the rules and limits, so that you don’t have to remember it all.

Январь

Just because it’s winter doesn’t mean that you have to take a break from fishing, Rockfish are always there for the taking. You can also go after Dungeness Crab and catch yourself a delicious dinner.

Февраль

In February, if you’re itching for some freshwater action, you can head to the Klamath River to target excellent Rainbow Trout, or stay in the ocean and target Black Seabass, Lingcod, and Rockfish – it’s up to you.

Март

Spring is just around the corner, which means that the fishing menu is becoming more abundant every day. Go after anything from Tuna and California Halibut to Steelhead in the rivers and enjoy fair weather to the max.

If you love chasing Trout in the Klamath River, this is your last chance to get a piece of that action before it gets too warm. The good news is you can finally go ocean fishing for Chinook Salmon!

In May, fishing is nothing short of superb. There’s something for all levels of anglers – Rockfish, Salmon, Crab, and Halibut are all there for the taking, you just have to take your pick.

Chinook are starting their spring run on the Klamath River, but you can still find them in the ocean, or head to the river for some adrenaline-pumping action. The crabbing season is open until the end of July.

Август

Salmon fishing will take your breath away in August, more so because your chances of landing a hog are significant. Head out to the deeper waters to chase Rockfish, and even Tuna, if that’s your preference.

The fall run of Chinook Salmon is about to begin, which means the action is about to go up a notch. If you don’t feel like eating Salmon fillets for your next meal (is that possible?), then Rockfish and Halibut fishing is the thing for you.

King Salmon is off to spawn in the mountain creeks and streams, but that doesn’t mean that the fun on the water has to stop. Fishing for Halibut, Lingcod, Black Seabass, and Rockfish is still in full swing.

November brings many exciting moments for anglers. The opening of Trout season and crabbing are the highlights, while Salmon fishing is officially closed for the year.

Captain Dave and his first mate were awesome. We hit our limit in a few hours and we caught some big beauties. I absolutely recommend this trip to anyone. More action than we could ask for. 1st off 2 other Charters canceled on us last minute because of "mechanical issues" and "horrible weather 12 foot waves" captain Dave not only got us out on a last minute booking he moved us all over the place to get on the fish. The ocean was basically glass when we left and the fishing was great. He runs top notch gear amd his dackhand was quick to get the fish off the line and bait hooks. Great people and it was a blast!

Best fishing trip so far. Steve was great, funny dude! My 6 year old was on the ocean for the first time and Steve was great with him. Boat is comfortable and even worked great with my parents even though my mom has mobility issues. Steve definitely kept us on the fish and we came home with a massive amount of filets..... Definitely booking with Steve Huber in the future.

We had an amazing morning with Captain Steve….and we caught our max quota of fish in just a few hours! (He knows where all the fishies are) We caught several species of fish including a China Rock Fish and a Canary Rock Fish and Lingcod. Had a great time with Capt. Steve ! Got us into some awesome fishing. We hammered the lings,got close to bottom fish limits and even had a few salmon on the hook that got off . Will definitely be going with him in the future!
