North Padre Island fishing should be on your to-do list if you’re anywhere near Corpus Christi. This is mostly thanks to the island’s perfect position – close to Corpus Christi Bay and the Gulf, yet secluded and far less “touristy” than other towns nearby. You’ll find lots of great fishing guides in the area, available year-round.
There’s a variety of fish species that call these waters home. Redfish and Speckled Trout can be found on the shallow, grassy flats of Laguna Madre, as well as Black Drum, Flounder, and Spanish Mackerel. If inshore fishing is what you’re looking for, booking a half day trip is a great way to get familiar with the area and have some fun.
If you’re up for an adrenaline rush, you can go to the Gulf of Mexico and target Red Snapper, Grouper, Wahoo, Mahi Mahi, Tuna, Marlin, Sailfish, Amberjack, and many more. Heading out to the deep waters will require at least a full day trip in order to maximize your chances of reeling in some trophies.
North Padre Island has fishing adventures for everyone, no matter their angling experience. You’ll find fishing charters ready to take you out dotted along this barrier island starting with Port Aransas, as well as in the surrounding cities of Corpus Christi and Aransas Pass. Just take your pick and fish on!
