Рыбалка – Харрисон-Лейк

Fishing in Harrison Lake, BC is a great opportunity to target Chinook Salmon, Trout, or Lake Whitefish. At 60 kilometers long, this is the largest lake in Southwestern BC. Well-known as a famous swimming spot, Harrison Lagoon attracts lots of visitors during summer. While the fishing is good here year-round, a local fishing experience is hardly limited to the lake. In fact, Harrison Lake is just the beginning! With a large variety of species to be found in the local rivers, most guides start at the lake and make their way out to other fishing spots.

Where to Go

Harrison River

When you’re looking for an incredible Salmon fishing trip, definitely give the Harrison River a shot. The largest Salmon-producing tributary of the Fraser River system, the Harrison River has all five species of the Pacific Salmon. If you come during the spawning season, you’ll have a chance of catching all of them on the same day. Early spring is great for targeting Cutthroat Trout that feed on Salmon minnows. The fastest way to access the river is by finding a guide in Harrison Mills or Harrison Hot Springs.

Fraser River

Does catching the largest freshwater fish in North America sound both fun and challenging? If you’d like to target Sturgeon, the Fraser River is where you should go! This monster fish can reach over a thousand pounds and they have a reputation for their strength. The closest fishing spots to the lake are around Chilliwack, or you can go upstream to Fraser Canyon. Going after Sturgeon for the first time can be intimidating, but you’ll have high chances of catching them with the help of a professional guide.

Your options don’t end there, as the Fraser River also has a massive Salmon run each year.

Need to Know

  • Whether you choose to stay at the lake or fish in the river, you’ll need a valid fishing licence.

  • You must release any Sturgeon you catch.

  • If you want to keep some fish you catch, be sure to learn more about local fishing regulations. The Harrison Lake area falls under region No. 2 of British Columbia.

Fishing in Harrison Lake and the surrounding rivers is a year-round adventure. The Sturgeon fishing is always great, Steelhead peak during winter, and Salmon make their run during summer. Whether you’re an experienced angler or a first-time visitor, you’ll easily find a guide that can tailor a trip to your interests.

Харрисон-Лейк – сезоны

January
The beginning of the year is usually the slowest month when it comes to fishing. You’re most likely to find Steelhead, but they won’t be at their prime.

February
The number of Steelhead you can find is increasing, but has yet to reach its peak. Good things come to those who wait, so just be a bit more patient.

March
Head out to the Harrison River for an incredible Trout fishery. In March, thousands of Cutthroat Trout enter the river, as they feed on the Salmon minnows.

April
This is the peak season for Rainbow Trout if you stay at Harrison Lake or the Harrison River. Those who reach the Fraser River will have an amazing Sturgeon fishing trip.

May
Are you a fan of fly fishing?! Test your skills by catching Chinook Salmon on a fly! Make sure to check if the captain provides your equipment or you need to bring your own.

June
Come June, there’s even more Chinook Salmon in both the Fraser and Harrison Rivers. Sockeye are also showing up, which makes it a great opportunity to compare the two.

July
After a long Salmon fishing trip, relax in the Harrison Lagoon. This is a popular spot for everyone near Harrison Hot Springs during summer.

August
All five Salmon species start their upstream run! Get your Salmon Grand Slam by landing each species and see which one’s the hardest to catch.

September
Fishing can hardly get any better at the end of summer. Sturgeon and all the local Salmon species are at their peak. You just need a bit of persistence to catch them.

October
October is the best time to go after Coho Salmon in the Harrison River. This type of Salmon is the toughest challenge here, as they get spooked easily.

November
Early November is a good time to catch huge Chinook. At this time of the year, they often exceed 30 pounds. Are you skilled enough to catch them on a fly?

December
The Salmon run has ended, but you can still find good Sturgeon opportunities in the Fraser River. You can also visit the Harrison River for Steelhead fishing.
