Рыбалка – Maui

Breathtaking scenery and amazing fishing opportunities are synonymous with Hawaii. You’ll find the best of both worlds in Maui, the second-largest island of the Hawaiian archipelago. Between Oahu and the Big Island lies 30 miles of pristine beaches, crystal clear water, endless angling options, and the best Maui fishing charters.

Maui is one of those special places where anglers can rely on pursuing big game fish throughout the entire year. Trophy catches that are on everyone’s radar are common here. Don’t be surprised if you stumble upon Mahi Mahi, Yellowfin Tuna, Skipjack Tuna, Blue Marlin, Striped Marlin, and Wahoo on the same Maui tour.

The most popular forms of fishing in Maui are deep sea fishing, trolling, and bottom fishing. Depending on whether you want to spend the day offshore or closer to shore, Maui fishing charters will hook you up with the premium Maui fishing tours. You can choose anything between half day and full day Maui fishing trips. But remember – the further you go out, the better your odds of fighting with the stars of the show are!

Although Maui doesn’t lack fishing spots, it’s good to know that some areas are more suitable for fishing than others in terms of the weather conditions or local tradition. Maui is the windsurfing capital of the world and the North Shore is its home, so fishing is slightly better in West Maui. East Maui features remote communities like Hana where people fish to live, so you should be mindful of their fisheries.

Maui – сезоны

January

If you’re visiting Maui at the beginning of the year, you can count on the first two weeks to be busy. Striped Marlin are biting steadily, and Black and Blue Marlins are starting to show up.

February

Winter can be action-packed with Striped Marlin. This pelagic fish moves with the changes in temperatures and currents, so local knowledge is valuable when trolling for them.

March

Warmer weather marks an Amberjack fishing frenzy. They’re fast and vicious predators, so be ready to engage in a tug-of-war with them if you cross paths. For those keen on chasing Tunas, Skipjack and Bigeye Tuna are roaming the area as well.

April

Spring is when things start to ramp up in Maui with Tunas and Marlins cruising these waters in greater numbers. Amberjack are reaching their peak, but Mahi Mahi are dominating the waters. Near the end of the month, Wahoo and Giant Trevally begin to emerge.

May

You can target anything from Mahi Mahi, Striped Marlin, Shortbill Spearfish, and Wahoo to Blue Marlin. Bear in mind that tradewinds can be high in the afternoon, so mornings are more reliable for fishing.

June

While fishing on Maui is a year-round activity, summer is the most promising time of the year for trying your luck with big game fish. You can go up to 40 miles offshore in pursuit of a 500lbs Blue Marlin.

July

This is when fishing gets serious on Maui, and boat availability gets cut in half due to tournaments. July is also the month when the Blue Marlin World Cup is held, so make sure you book your trip ahead of time.

August

Favorable fishing conditions continue in  August, and trolling for Tunas and Marlins is still going strong. While Mahi Mahi's activity slows down, they’re still the common game fish. Giant Trevally are sailing through Maui’s waters, too.

September

While some of the biggest specimens have been found in Hawaiian waters, Giant Trevally can be sporadic. However, early fall could be your chance to locate these fish! They’re hungry and ready to bite just about anything.

October

Moderate temperatures and mild waters still boast Blue Marlin and Tunas, but this is the prime time for landing magnificent Mahi Mahi. They’re traveling in pairs or smaller packs in search of food. This will be your opportunity to reel them in.

November

While the thrill over luring in energetic Mahi Mahi isn’t dying down, the excitement over Bigeye Tuna is chiming in. Due to their feisty character and delicious meat, Bigeye Tuna are an attractive sport fish in Maui.

December

Typically, the first half of the month is slow in terms of fishing, but once the holiday season approaches, Maui livens up and charters are all booked up. If you want to go after Bigeye Tuna, make sure to book well in advance.
