We have used 5 different charters in Destin. Captain Si was by far the best. Use Nelson Charters. I won’t use anyone else from now on.

Go out fishing with an open mind. Day to day the fishing changes. Weather is a big/huge factor. Be patient with your Captain. They are doing their best with what the day brings. You might catch fish non stop for your trip, or get only a couple. It's fishing. And be polite. May God bless your fishing adventures.

Go for it, the area offers a lot of great offer of fishing. It won’t disappoint. The only reason I did not write this 5 stars was because I’ve had better days fishing in Clearwater where I larger fish

I'd recommend using King of Kings as he was great with myself and 5 high school seniors (4 of which had never done offshore fishing). They had a blast!

Definitely consider the type of species you aim to catch. Bigger fish require bigger/deeper water. This of course turns into longer boat rides to the necessary habitat. The time in travel can eat into the scheduled time for your trip. If bringing smaller children, you'll be able to get into feisty smaller fish for sure much sooner. They'll have a fantastic time getting into fish much sooner in the trip and have a very memorable time.

Not as good of fishing in March as it is in June when snapper and other fish are open for catching but still fun to reel in a lot of fish! Mingo is a good eater as is Trigger.

The fishing is good. Check on what is allowed to be kept if you want to keep your catch. We did not and went for big fish and Captain Chuck Madden delivered!!!

Graham is the best captain I’ve been with in a while! Great conversation, great fishing, and an all around unforgettable experience!

If you can swing a longer trip (even a 5hr vs a 4hr) it will be worth it! The extra time allows you to get further out especially if the waters are a little rough. But, for a first time experience, the 4hr trio is a great one to experience but it will definitely leave you wanting more. Time goes quickly!

Dress warm in the morning, bring a towel and take motion sickness meds the night before

Bring sunscreen and beverages. Wear a hat or something to give you some shade. Sunglasses a must.

We were in Destin for a week and got one day when the wind was calm enough to go out. Fishing this time of year here is great but hard to plan in light of the variability in the wind.

I believe it’s not the best time of year for fishing in Destin but we still caught lots of fish

Don’t be obsessed with the amount of time out fishing. Get an experience boat captain and go catch fish!

Little cool early but warmed up quick. Guide cleaned the Spanish macs and we took them to the boathouse oyster bar and they blackened them and made fish tacos was excellent.

Recommend a boat with a cabin to chill in as the weather is cool. Fishing is great if your captain gets you to them and you are dressed for the weather.

Check the weather. It was cooler than normal. Fish was just not biting very much

Prepare for the weather and depending on season, later March may be better.

Listen to your Captains and their experience on what to do, where to go, and the weather.

If you're going in March don't expect a lot of them to be in season. Expect to catch your bait and have fun doing it. These Captains know where to find fish and put you on them. What kind you catch is a wonderful mystery. Have fun.
