Рыбалка – Массачусетс

The state of Massachusetts prides itself on its premier fishing opportunities so much that its nickname is “The Codfish State.” This is the epicenter of the East Coast angling action. If you’ve never experienced the thrill this rich fishery has to offer and you’re not sure where to start, don’t worry – there are plenty of Massachusetts fishing charters to help you out.

Both saltwater and freshwater action are top notch here, but it’s fishing for the monster Bluefin Tuna that steals the show. Add to that huge Sharks, Bluefish, Halibut, Pollock, Haddock, Tautog, Black Seabass, and Flounder, and you’ve got a party. Massive Striped Bass are also very popular, both because of their size and numbers.

Exploring the rivers and lakes of Massachusetts will also put you on the trail of many A-listers. Think Atlantic Salmon, Striped Bass, Black Bass, as well as Trout species – Brookies, Rainbows, Browns, and Lakers. Love catching fishing even in winter? Ice fishing in Massachusetts won’t disappoint.

Because Massachusetts fishing charters are so numerous, you’ll find just about every type of fishing trip on offer. Expeditions that last anywhere from 8 hours to a couple of days are perfect for Tuna chasers. Families and beginners will have a great time on shorter excursions as well, targeting plenty of bottom fish. Specialized trips are very common as well.

Some of the top fishing hotspots in Massachusetts are Cape Cod, Buzzards Bay, Cape Ann, Boston, as well as Connecticut and Merrimack Rivers. You just can’t go wrong with an angling adventure in the Bay State!

Правила и положения

Whether you’re fishing on your own or with a charter, in freshwater or the deepest reaches of the North Atlantic, you’ll need a valid Massachusetts fishing license. Catch limits and seasons differ depending on where you fish, so get informed before you head out.

Массачусетс – сезоны

January

Hardy anglers catch Cod and Pollock while freshwater enthusiasts hit frozen lakes for productive ice fishing. Most boats on Cape Cod are out of the water, but if you don’t mind the cold, larger vessels often run year-round.

February

Ice fishing in Massachusetts may not make the headlines but it’s still well worth checking out, especially if you’re hungry for some action. In the saltwater realm, you can find decent Cod and Pollock, and even some Halibut.

March

Celebrate Massachusetts’s incredible fishing heritage without actually going outdoors at the Hyannis Boatbuilders’ Show. Otherwise, hit the water on a calm day and spend some time battling delicious bottom fish.

April

The spring season starts off with a bang! Good numbers of Striped Bass and Tautog show up in the shallows, and the first Bluefish appear towards the end of the month. The Brook Trout bite really picks up in April, so there’s a lot for you to do.

May

Do you like fishing for Striped Bass? Are you up for some healthy competition? Join the Spring Sea Run Opener to take on big Stripers and support local charities in the process. Scup and Seabass are both open for harvest from May onwards.

June

June marks the beginning of the tournament season, with Hull’s South Shore Striper Tournament, Fairhaven’s Bad Daddy Tog, and Seabass and Scup Tournament, to name a few. Bottom dwellers are hungry and there are more and more Tuna around.

July

It’s the middle of summer, and Tuna and Sharks show up in force! See the best of them at the North Atlantic Monster Shark Tournament in New Bedford. There are a lot of big Sharks prowling in the deep, as well as Tautog, Black Seabass, and Haddock.

August

From Stripers and Bluefish to Makos and White Marlin, just about all bragworthy fish are around and biting in August. If you’re looking for a challenge, the Gloucester Bluefin Blowout is about as good as it gets for competitive Tuna fishing.

September

Action is still going strong towards the end of the summer, with great numbers of bottom fish, Sharks, Marlin, and of course, Tuna. Inland waters are brimming with Kokanee and Stripers, and the Trout bite is just as strong.

October

October is your last chance to take on deep sea pelagics like Bluefin and Yellowfin Tuna or Blue, Mako, Thresher, and Porbeagle Sharks. Head out for an epic battle as the summer season rolls to a close, you won’t regret it!

November

Things are winding down and every day, more Massachusetts fishing charters are pulling their boats out of the water. Most migratory fish have moved on but you can still find Tautog, Stripers, Bluefish, and Flounder inshore, and Cod, Pollock, Halibut, and Haddock offshore.

December

The fishing fun doesn’t stop when temperatures drop below freezing. Find a lake or a section of water that’s frozen solid and put your ice fishing skills to the test. If you’re feeling competitive, there are ice fishing tournaments you can check out.
