Bass fishing in Central Florida is the highlight of freshwater adventures. Floridian Bass are known to be bigger and fatter than the Bass anywhere else, which is what draws anglers from all over the country. Needless to say, these waters are home to many Bass tournaments records.
Largemouth Bass isn’t just the champion of Bass species – it’s the champion of freshwater fishing as a whole. The best time to land a few of these is in spring during the spawning season, when they move to shallow water. Spring is also the peak season for Striped Bass, since they prefer colder water. You can also go after Smallmouth, Peacock, Spotted, Hybrid, and White Bass.
Even though there are certain seasonal highlights, the Bass fishing in Central Florida never stops. You can take a trip any time of year. It doesn’t take long to reach a good fishing spot on the lake, so you can have plenty of fishing time even on a 5-hour trip. Full day trips are also available, which are especially good if you’re after a trophy-sized fish.
Some of the most popular freshwater fishing destinations are the lakes around Orlando, such as Lake Toho. But you don’t have to go far from the ocean for great freshwater fishing. Visit the Indian River if you’re on the east coast or Lake Tarpon on the west coast. Since Florida is full of lakes and rivers, fishing guides often change their fishing spots and it’s hard to put a pin on the map.
One of the best things about Bass fishing is that you don’t need previous experience. Take a trip with a local guide and you’ll surely have a successful day on the water.

Great time to fish. Weather is nice and comfortable so can fish in the morning or in the afternoon or both. I would bring sunscreen, sunglasses and some extra layers to wear in the early morning hours.

If you fish in January bring a wide range of clothes. It was in the 70s and dry on Saturday, then cold and rainy on Sunday. Also, if your Captain says you should buy extra bait, listen to them. If we hadn't bought extra, we may have ran out before we got to one of our best spots of the day.

The Best Western Plus Inn was a very nice place to stay and close to everything we needed it to be close to. We would also highly recommend Harry's Old Place restaurant located on the West side of Ned Lake. A day trip to the Bok Tower Garden in Lake Wales is a must see wonder of the World and lunch at their Blue Palmetto Cafe was A+
