We had a great time! Steve was so helpful and made the trip memorable

This was a great experience. Captain Steve was great knew where to fish and Steve the first Mate was awesome!! He worked so well with our 7 year old twin grandsons and our daughter and son in law. I would highly recommend. We will definitely come back. We didn’t sit for a second constantly catching fish!!!

The experience was exactly what we were looking for. The Captain made sure to ask what we wanted to get out of our trip. The First Mate did everything he could to help us, which was A Lot because we’re are not firshermen (or fisherwomen)! I would recommend this crew of the Lucky Lina for deep sea fishing tours in the future. I know we’ll be back and use them again!

We go to the beach pretty much every year, so this year I wanted to mix it up some. I convinced my parents and sisters to go deep sea fishing in hopes of catching some dinner for us. We learned about Captain Steve and the Lucky Lina through a family friend who had booked him for the week before. We liked the good reviews that the boat received, and liked the fact that there was a slight percent dicounted if we payed in cash. We met Captain Steve and fill-in first mate Vinnie (the main first mate was gone for personal matters) at the docks early in the morning. As all five of us were first time deep sea fishermen we decided a four hour trip would be enough. First we went to catch bait fish, and even though Vinnie said it is “the easiest fishing you will ever do,” we didn’t have much luck. After a bit Captain Steve decided to move and start to catch the big fish, using squid as bait. Then we started reeling them in. However, most of the ones we caught were red snapper, and trigger fish. We weren’t able to keep the beautiful red snapper because our permit does not allow that. Vinnie said that we may have been able to keep a couple of them if we had been in the season, which ended July 15. The trigger fish had to be released because apparently there is a shortage in the population. If that’s true we must have caught all of the remaining population! My mom ended up catching one keeper, and I caught two. They were white snapper, and although it wasn’t much they were still delicious later that night when we cooked them up. Our trip did end up a bit short because 3/5 of us couldn’t handle the rough waters. I felt bad seeing my family members get sick because I was the one who decided that we should all go fishing. It was definitely a five star trip for me, my sister might not feel the same so that’s why I gave a 4. Captain Steve and first mate Vinnie were great, hardworking, and knew where the good fishing holes were, we were just unlucky. I would love to come on the Lucky Lina again and get another chance to catch some bigger fish for dinner. However, I’m not sure if I’ll be able to convince my family again.
