This review was from feb 1st 2019. Originally booked an 8 hour trip. After talking with captain, decided on 10 hour trip. The 10 hour trip , you are heading to the Atlantic ocean, where big blue marlin are mating and feeding. This was once in life time trip with my stepson and future son in law. Captain Edgar contacted me at my resort day before leaving, after I emailed him on concerns of the rough ocean. In a different country, unsure of what to expect. ie too rough to fish, but take you out anyway. Captain Edgar assured me he would not take any customer out in unfishable waters, and to trust your captain. he said I will be straight with you, it is going to be rough in morning because the Caribean waters and Atlantic waters meet while tide is out. He assured me when we get to atlantic waters it will be calm enough to fish. He told me this is perfect marlin weather. They like it on rough side instead of flat. He recommended we take damamine night before, and morning of. We were under half power part way and then just as he said , we got into Atlantic waters boat was able to go full throttle for remainder of ride, which took total of 1 hour 25 minutes. We started trolling and crew went to work, setting teasers and baited lines. Eveybody new their jobs and worked as a well organized team. In less than an hour the action started with first hook up a blue marlin. The action continued all day long. By the end of day around 4 pm, we were getting ready to leave, reeling in lines when captain Edgar yelled a bill fish was coming to last bait out. It turned out to be a sail fish. That gave us the acclaimed grand slam of bill fish. 3 blue marlin, 1 white marlin and a sail fish. We also boated 18 mai- mai, 1 wahoo and a huge barracuda!!!! I never imagined we could actually get the grand slam, but after watching the close attention the crew , kept on keeping things going, when it would slow up, in came baits and new baits went out. they were meticulous on how baits tied on, detail means everything. Captain Edgar kept us in the fish. This is how a team works. Pilot at the wheel is a seasoned 30 year fisherman. Captain Edgar was born in North Carolina and grew up in the Dominican republic so he can talk to you like your talking to your neighbor, and he speaks Spanish like the locals. The crew could speak English good, and were willing to answer any questions I had, which was a lot.The crew worked their tails off to get us fish and deserved and got a nice tip. If your thinking of going out for marlin, take the 10 hour Atlantic trip, trust your captain, do what they are telling you to do. I would also recommend working on your upper body strength, Marlin are strong, you will think your arms are going to fall off after a 30 minute fight. I RECOMEND TEASE ME SPORTFISHING TO EVERYONE!!!!! The phrase I remember most captain Edgar said and was so true ” you cant improvise experience” Scott upper Michigan USA…..
