We went out in the afternoon and had a great time! The wind was not our friend, but Captain Wood was on it getting us to different spots to get us on the fish. Boat was clean and well organized and a great ride. We are definitely going to book with him again and look forward to fishing with him again! Great work!

If you’ve made it this far researching and reading reviews of Captain Perrin Wood then save yourself the time and go on and book it!! I will gladly say that I’ve been on several private charters in the Myrtle Beach area and this guy is the best going and coming.
First off, he strategically rescheduled our trip due to upcoming forecast of harsh weather.  And boy that was smart on his part!! That scheduled day would’ve been a danger to say the least! So we opted for the next afternoon to run the trip. We were planning to stay inshore (which is actually a cheaper trip option) but upon arrival he was telling us about how good the bite was offshore they morning and insisted we take advantage of it (at no additional cost I must say). We busted heads on them King Mackerill for a couple of hours before heading to other nearshore spots to try other species that I haven’t crossed paths with before. He made 3 separate runs to put us on fish when he could’ve just stayed inshore and milked the clock by parking in an inlet somewhere throwing at nothing but open dead water. But that’s not Perrin’s way! He puts his customers first and makes the best out of the situation at hand. Regardless if it’s outside his own financial or personal benefits. Thanks again Perrin for the great trip!! We’ll see u again the next time I’m at Myrtle Beach!!

The bite was understandably slow because of recent weather but I still had a great time with Captain Wood! We burned some gas up today looking for em and managed put a few in the boat. I could tell he was frustrated he couldn’t find the mother load which meant a lot to me. He truly wanted to find fish for me. He is very knowledgeable and it was enjoyable spending some time in the boat with him. The boat is a beast of a rig and the gear was awesome. He was constantly checking the leaders for cuts or abrasions that would lead to lost fish. Already planning another trip down and get out with him again!

Perrin is one of the best captains I have fished with.  I’ve fished multiple times a year for several years with different captains and it’s always just been “fun”. My day with Perrin was EPIC.  This guy knows the water like the back of his hand, and if a certain technique in a certain spot isn’t working; he’ll completely change the approach and bait we’re using.  By the end of my four hour trip, we were surrounded by others boaters watching us pull up bull reds- utterly baffled as to why they weren’t getting a bite.  I had so much fun I came back for one quick 4 hour trip THE DAY I WAS LEAVING… Yes, I had such a good time the first go around I had to do it one more time before I left for home in Charlotte. 

In the most respectful way possible to the other captains out of Murrells Inlet- don’t waste your money looking at other charters.  I’ve fished just about all of them over the past 10 years of going to my condo, and am kicking myself for not finding Perrin sooner. 

I’ll be back next month for the monster bull Reds that will be arriving, and I am already counting the days.

First of all thank you again Captain Perrin! We booked a half day inshore trip on a SUPER hot day but he brought us out 16 miles off shore to make sure we had the highest chance of finding the big ones. We were unlucky and the fish weren’t biting dispite his best efforts. However things took an unexpected turn as more than half my party got sea sick even though we took motion sickness medication and never had a history of seasickness. He really accommodated us and made sure he would find calmer waters and made sure we were hydrated as well. Although our fishing time was cut short, he made sure we enjoyed ourselves and took us sightseeing and showed us the secrets of Murrells Inlet. Went home without fish but we were not disappointed at all! We all had a great time and even got some tan! We will be fishing with Southern Saltwater Charters again, see you in October!
