What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Homosassa, Florida for the first time?

Super area! Clear water! Lots of different kinds of fish one might catch! We preferred Homosassa over Crystal River, not nearly as commercialized. In addition to catching fish, we enjoyed seeing the dolphins, sting rays, a shark, lots of pelicans, etc.

Great communication! We had to reschedule because of weather. Then, I have to push out meeting time because of a Tropical storm call. Captain Randy waited at the ramp for over an hour. Never mentioned it. Professional guy! We have fished with some Captains that did not have conversation with our kids. Not Capt Randy! He was so good with the kids and answered the many questions they had! Boat was nice, fast, with a lot of room. Take this Captain you won't be sorry I did!

This is our 4th charter in Homosassa. Much better success in Tarpon Sporings and Clearwater areas. Moer porfessional, better boarts and more enjoyable. THe long ride from McCrays to open water better spent fishing.

The weather this year was warmer than normal, so that limits to what you may catch. I would advise you to call the charters ahead of time and discuss what kind of fish you want to target. Then charter can be prepared appropriately for you trip.

Try to research ahead of time and stick to quality names and outfitters or guides who have been in service for a number of years and have good reports. My suggestion is probably not to pick up somebody who is available on a weekend during prime fishing season..... There might be a reason for it!! Could always call and see if they got a cancellation at the last minute which is possible. But if you go into something like fishing Booker and open a lot of days I would stay away from them!

Bring plenty of sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses. A 3/4 day fishing is perfect in May as the last 2 hrs of a full day get really hot.

We went fishing a day after a big storm fish weren't hitting very much, we still had a lot of fun though.

If its been raining its not going to be as successful as dry weather. Take a sweatshirt for the ride out, but later it will be very warm.

We didn't fish so I cannot say what we would recommend but definitely try scalloping if you are looking for a new experience.

The only disappointment was there was no toilet on the boat. Everything was provided except food and drink.

Homosassa is a great town with lots to do and great fishing. I highly recommend it.
