What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Key West, Florida for the first time?

If you want to make sure you get fish, book with a charter boat that take multiple people and has a variety of hours to go out. Check the ratings and read the reviews.

Bring a jacket and sunscreen. Florida weather can be unpredictable during winter. Make sure you have something if you are prone to seasickness it will make or break your trip.

Don't worry about the weather or time of the year, you will have a great time regardless of conditions.

maybe it was the weather or the season, but we were at 30 to 45 feet. Maybe go deeper and use larger tackle.

To book with your company cause your mates that run the boats are very friendly & now the area very well

Bring some sandwiches, some drinks, they’ll have coolers with ice. Bring some shoes with grip as you’ll be on a boat

Definitely find out what the water temperature is to evaluate. What kind of fish you’re gonna go for in the time length.

I would recommend starting off with a 2 hour fishing charter and then moving up from there. Next time we will be ready for a half day of fishing in Key West.

Plenty of water. Wear hats . Use sunscreen. Check on size of boat before you book . Morning is best if you can’t handle the heat of sun .

I recommend using reel easy charters for first timers. We have been coming down for years and had a hard time finding good captains. Not the case with reel easy charters.

We had a great experience, but it was our first trip during the summer months, so I would do your research/homework before booking a trip.

Shop around and ask questions to the charter you are interested in. Ask about the type of fish they plan on going out for and how far. Don't be afraid to ask questions.

Take a charter and enjoy the day. They will handle getting you to a good spot to catch. Take your fresh catch to a local restaurant and have them cook it. Ours was excellent!

Don’t cut yourself short on time. Our fishing trip was amazing. The waters around here are beautiful and for the most part extremely calm. Definitely a trip we will take again!

Know the fish are there but sometimes not biting. That’s way it’s called fishing not catching. Know Captain Dave is trying everything to get you fish

End of the year for a bit cooler weather, a little breeze definitely helped keep cool. Lots of water and sunscreen applied

Make sure to bring a hat, sun glasses and some water/Gatorade. Consider motion sickness pills if you have never been out on the water. Bring sun screen. Relax, have fun and enjoy your experience!
