Flounder gigging remains hot after the c
I had repeat customer Paul M. group of 3 onboard tonight, filling in for a last-minute cancellation. Boy, I was glad they filled the trip, because it ended up being one of the nicest nights and best fishing I have seen in a while. Conditions were perfect, with dead-calm winds, slightly low tide levels, and excellent water clarity. Tonight’s trip only took 2 stops, with all our flounder coming on the first and all our drum on the second stop. The flounder action was steady, with plenty of fish holding on mud and hard sand bottom. We were able to be picky, gigging only the larger flounder we saw and passing on the borderline fish. After getting our flounder limit, we went looking for drum and sheepshead. The cold water temps had the drum moving slow and easy to hit, letting us move slow and pick them off at a relaxed pace. We ended with a 15 flounder limit, a 15 drum limit, and 2 sheepshead by 9:45pm.
My next report will be after Spring Break is over, it should be very good!!
