Trolling for Kings and Jacks paid off
Left the dock at seven on a clear Saturday morning with a dad and his two sons for a half day fishing trip. Conditions were great and we arrived at some platforms six miles out from the jetties by seven-thirty.
We had taken out a group of five on Friday and tried to get some snapper on board, but nothing was biting for them. But we did pick up a Jack and had a few misses while trolling. Based on this experience we decided not to waste time on the reef Saturday and spent our time trolling with Ballyhoo.
Dad caught a real nice Jack in the first thirty seconds of trolling. We turned it loose, and during the next three hours managed to catch five nice King Mackerel and another big Jack Crevalle. We had some missed strikes and a couple break offs, which made for an exciting half day of fishing.
