We had a nice day cruising around the coast looking for roosters but did not get any fish, with only one bite that was immediately lost. The captain was pretty diligent about moving around to different spots, and it was fun to cast a plug of the bow while we also ran bait off the transom. But at the end of the day we were skunked, but that’s fishing. The only regret is that I had just assumed the 1/2 day trip was inshore only, but they called me in the AM to ask what I wanted to do, and I said we figured inshore, without asking what had the better bite. Also, I shore is usually cheaper since it uses less fuel but it was nevertheless a scenic, pleasant trip.

Meeting up with the captain and the boat was a little difficult, as the directions weren’t very good. You had to take a dingy from a beach to the boat that was docked in a bay, but it wasn’t really an issue.
The fishing trip itself was wonderful. The captain in the mate very nice and really tried to accommodate our needs. The ocean was rough but the boat was very stable and had plenty of space to get out of the sun. Boat was definitely underpowered for its size (200hp on 28ft boat), but it got the job done.
Only complaint would be that the mate cleaned our catch on the way back to shore while the boat was moving. When I got home to cook the fish…it was riddled with bones from the cleaning. Big waste of a catch. But I did catch a nice sailfish so it wasn’t a total loss.

Slow trolling day (for all boats on the water) but Captain George and Will worked hard to find some fish. Enjoyed tuna sushi on the boat!
