Our group, including 3 adults and 3 kids aged 4, 8 and 12 had a great time. Capt. Mike kept in excellent communication with us prior to the trip, and we had no problem finding the pick up point. The trip included 4 passes dragging the net, and we got lots of shrimp. The adults enjoyed chilling the catch - the kids liked watching. Mate Tommy was a good teacher and helper, and interesting to talk to. Great trip for a family with kids! Thanks!

Cannot say enough nice things about Mike.  He had some mechanical issues and instead of just telling us no, he arranged the same trip with a friend of his and made it work.  My 6 year old had such a great time we are excited to do it again.  Came home with a pot of crabs and 30 lbs of fresh shrimp. 
OBX is a small community but it speaks VOLUMES to Mikes integrity.  Instead of saying no, he went above and beyond to get us the trip we had agreed upon.  For that, it made the trip very special. 
If you have not done this, you need to do it.  The experience is great and you get to see first hand how WILD shrimp are caught and the effort that goes into it. 
If you have doubts about booking with Mike, let me tell you that you should have none.  He is a stand up guy and treated me more than fair.  You will enjoy a trip with him.

Captain Mike and Tommy made the 4 hour trip pass quickly! We took the 11am excursion. The kids (11-15) were never bored (but we also didn’t allow them to bring any electronics along).  Make sure the kids wear shirts you don’t mind tossing in the trash—my kids got super messy while having fun. Be sure to bring sun block, a good hat, Gatorade, and lots of water. We packed a lunch (sandwiches, fruit, and chips).  There’s good cell phone reception, so no need to miss any important phone calls. After our catch, we took our crabs to the fish market next to the gas station so they could be cooked (we waited about 25 minutes), We put the cooked crabs in the back of our car trunk and drive 3 hours home and they were still hot. We cannot wait to go again! This experience is one I can now cross off my bucket list.

We had an absolute amazing time out on the water.  This was a great way and trip to introduce kids to boats and water.  Who are completely new to this.  Captain Mike and First Mate Tommy are exceptional and great with kids.  They are also very knowledgeable and able to teach all of us.  We started off with Shrimping and then finished with Crabbing.  The kids were able to sort out the shrimp.  Then when we switched to crabbing.  The kids got involved grabbing buoys, pulling pots, sorting and measuring.  Just a great trip all in all!  Highly recommend this if you are looking for something different from the norm or looking to get kids involved with the water.  Great way either way!  Thank you Capt Mike and Tommy, you have left a great memory for each of my kids that I know they will never forget.  Hope to see you soon!

Must do with kids, & or just need an experience this is it!  Hands on learning of the process of shimpping. Learning the different species of fish that came up & tossing them back to grow. The hurricane put a damper on the crabbing but we were busy & never would have known there could have been more. For a high functioning autic child this was up his alley. It was an awesome experience one for the books & we’ll be back! Please, don’t take the shimpping away from the small guys! This is to cool, wouldn’t be disappointed at.all!
