It was a wonderful time!!! Trevor and I caught 2 Sailfish with Jose and Gabriel Thats the biggest fish i have ever caught
Myself and a buddy went out for the day. We left the spousal units behind to do other Jaco things. We both caught a sailfish and lost what we think was a tuna after about 10-15 minutes, but that’s fishing. Wonderful day.
Fishing has been great and I was out with client’s yesterday and we caught 14 Yellow fin Tuna.
I was somewhat disappointed by the results of the trip. Being a fisherman and having fished off-shore in Hawaii, Florida and South Carolina, I would not rate this trip as one of my most enjoyable and probably the least productive ever. We hooked a good sized (5’-6’) striped marlin and lost it before either one of us even touched the rod to fight the fish. We also raised two sailfish but did not hook either of them. No tuna, dorado or wahoo at all. Giving up on the trolling we switched to bottom fishing and hooked only one snapper in an hour and a half, but did not get it into the boat. The captain and the mate tried hard all day, but it was just not a good day for them, us or the boat. I have fished enough to know that some days you do not catch anything, but with only one day to fish and having paid this much, the trip was not very much fun at the end of the day.
I would also like to mention that Dan Ross who booked the trip for us sent me an e-mail which indicated that the balance owed would be accepted in either cash, VISA or MasterCard. When we arrived he asked for payment in cash! He would not accept a credit card and even said he would take us to an ATM to get cash if we did not have enough. I showed him the e-mail confirmation which I had with me and he refused. Fortunately, we did scrape up the cash but it left us short of cash for the rest of the day. Sorry Dan, but this is not very good business practice in my opinion.

I slept all day and night but I needed it. that was a great trip and I’m happy that I made a decision to take it :). I’ll be back with my boys soon enough :)
Captain didn’t appear to care if we caught fish. Maybe he knew we weren’t going to catch species we were after in which case he should have given us option. I’m not new to fishing in CR.
Sound’s like a picky old fart. I was told they caught Sailfish and Tuna and had a good day. Remember this isn’t last few years when there was lot’s of fish. Fishing is fishing.
