I highly recommend this trip and Captain Joe Nash as your guide.
We were on spring break, down from Cedar Springs, Michigan and I told my son and his friend, both older teenagers, that I would take them fishing. The weather wasn’t very cooperative that week because a front had moved in and brought some large waves into the Gulf. The evening before our last day there I started looking for some inshore fishing options so I could at least get the boys on the water and I ran across Captain Joe Nash.
Captain Nash has over 4,000 charter trips under his belt which I particularly liked so we scheduled a 1pm to 5pm trip for the next day to do some inshore fishing. I like fishing, but I also like sleeping on my vacations so the 1pm trip was perfect.
I’ve been on a few charter fishing trips and have had mixed results. I told the boys that if nothing else, we’ll get a nice boat ride and a day on the water. We got so much more. Captain Nash was a great host and his boat was perfect for the 3 of us plus Captain Nash.
The boys took a liking to Captain Nash right away and felt comfortable being themselves. I liked him as well and enjoyed chatting throughout the day. Despite the 15 to 20 mph winds, Captain Nash was able to take us to a few spots until we found a good spot and we started catching fish. In fact, for the next few hours, it seemed like we’d chat a little and them somebody had a fish on. It was great and as you can see from the pictures, the speckled trout were good size. We also caught 1 Flounder which was a surprise and several small Redfish. On the way back to the marina we passed by a small pod of dolphins which was also a treat.
Captain Nash also has a larger boat for blue water fishing which I hope to charter on future vacations. As for this one, it was really the highlight of our week.
I highly recommend this trip and Captain Joe Nash as your guide.
