My best friend and I have been in shore fishing together for 30 years. We fully understand why they call it “fishing” not “catching”, but it’s not always about the amount of fish you catch it’s the overall experience of the trip itself.
Or Captain Chase was on jury duty and had to pass us on to other guides for the 2 full days we booked with him. Blake and Andrew both had common ways of fishing and different styles to approach the Lake Charles fishing area. It was actually nice to get two different perspectives of fishing the area, especially when I had spent a lot of time researching all the guides and chose Capt. Chase hoping to spend 2 days with the same guide to form a bond and hoping to make at least on of our 2 days a successful catching one.
Weather and long term consistent rain has messed up the area with mass amounts of fresh water and high 15 to 20 knot Northeast winds the first day. Capt. Blake got us for the extremely high winds and Capt. Andrew got us for the calm sunny day. The calm sunnier day did not change the fact that the fish were not biting and it was brutal for both guides to go out two full days and had low biting action and 1 keeper each day to clean for their customer.
For my first inshore fishing trip in a year, it sucked on the water hoping we would come to Lake Charles for a meat haul. But…...Chase did a great job communicating with my best buddy about his unfortunate situation and did a great job begging his guide buddies to fill in for him; and I have no doubt both Capt. Blake and Andrew knew fishing was going to possibly suck due to the weather reports and the Lake Charles fishing networking amongst the guides. Both guides knew we could fish and worked the Lake Charles area the best they could with limited areas that were, poor at Best, for fishing due to the high winds and muddy water.
We will try it again, but make sure next time to keep a closer ear on the fishing guide networking amongst the guide buddies in the area, so we give ourselves a better chance of catching next time.

I’m glad you guys enjoyed the experience and both guides I had fish with you guys. Very unfortunate I wasn’t able to be there for both days, but the next time you guys book hopefully the lake is better and goes much better. Thanks for booking with us and hope to see you guys again!
